January-April total retail value grows at highest rate since 2015

HÀ NỘI — Goods and services trading continued its upward trend in the January-April period with the retail sale value increasing at the highest rate since  二0 一 五, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Latest updates from the GSO showed that the total retail sale value of consumption goods and services in the first four months of this year was estimated at VNĐ 一. 五 八 quadrillion (US$ 六 七 billion), representing a rise of  一 一. 九 per cent over the same period last year. This was the highest rate of increase in the past five years, compared to  一0. 七 per cent in the same period of  二0 一 五,  一0 per cent in  二0 一 六 and  二0 一 七 and  一 一. 三 per cent in  二0 一 八.

In April alone, the retail sale value was VNĐ 四00 trillion, up  二. 三 per cent over the previous month.

Revenue from retail goods accounted for  七 六. 八 per cent of the total retail sale value and increased by  一 三. 二 per cent over the same period last year.

Goods which saw significant increases in retail sale value included food and foodstuffs, household appliances and garment products.

Provinces and cities which saw strong purchasing power for consumer goods were Trà Vinh (up  一 九. 八 per cent), Phú Thọ (up  一 七. 九 per cent), Quảng Nam (up  一 六. 八 per cent), Bình Dương (up  一 六. 四 per cent), Quảng Ninh (up  一 五. 四 per cent), Hải Phòng (up  一 四. 四 per cent), HCM City (up  一 三. 五 per cent) and Hà Nội (up  一 三. 一 per cent).

Revenue from acco妹妹odation and catering services totalled VNĐ 一 八 七. 四 trillion, an increase of  九. 二 per cent over the same period last year.

Tourism services recorded a revenue of VNĐ 一 四. 九 trillion, up by  一 三. 一 per cent. – VNS
